Discover the art of faux painting in this hands-on workshop led by the talented Margo Vaux Tolosko. This 1-hour session, followed by a Q&A, will equip you with the skills needed to transform ordinary items into beautiful, sophisticated pieces that mimic wood grain, marble, and glazed finishes.
Workshop Overview:
In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn:
- Faux Wood Graining: Create the illusion of rich wood textures on any surface.
- Marbleizing: Achieve the luxurious look of marble with paint.
- Glazing: Add depth and dimension with glazing techniques.
What to Bring: Please bring a small item to paint, such as a picture frame, mirror with frame, decorative box, or a small simple side table. All other materials and tools will be provided.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to properly prep your item before painting, including sanding and base color application.
- Tips for selecting the perfect paint colors and finishes.
- How to use various tools for faux finishing.
- Best practices for choosing the right polyurethane for your projects.
- Proper tool cleanup techniques.
About Margo Vaux Tolosko
Margo Tolosko has over 35 years of experience in the design industry. After earning a BS from the University of Massachusetts, she pursued further education in art, color theory, and faux finishing. Margo specializes in creating stunning finishes that replicate wood grains, marbles, quartz, plasters, and stones.
Furniture design has always been Margo’s passion. Her love for building and transforming furniture led her to create custom pieces for herself and eventually for clients. She thrives on the challenge and creativity involved in breathing new life into old furniture, turning them into something unique and beautiful.
